Gujarat Health Officials Coordinate Flood‑Related Medical Preparedness

Gandhinagar, July 7 – With the monsoon leaving large swathes of Gujarat under water, the state health ministry has activated a comprehensive preparedness plan. After the tragic loss of two children to the Chandipura virus in Godhra taluka, health teams have intensified field surveillance, visiting each household to assess health status and apply preventive chemicals.

The minister emphasized that senior officials have issued uniform directives to district health heads, ensuring that every primary health centre, community health centre and hospital is stocked with anti‑venom, antibiotics and oral rehydration salts. The focus is on combating snake and scorpion bites, water‑borne infections, and other illnesses that surge during heavy rains.

Medical crews remain on standby, ready to be dispatched at a moment’s notice to any area showing signs of an outbreak. Continuous monitoring of regions that reported Chandipura cases in 2024 is being maintained to stop any new flare‑ups.
