Government Orders Four-Member Panel to Examine Boondi Cesarean Fatalities
In response to the deaths of two pregnant women following cesarean sections at Boondi General Hospital, Rajasthan's health ministry has appointed a four‑person investigative committee at the Government Medical College, Kota. The team includes Professor Ushaa Dadiya (Anesthesiology), Professor Pankaj Jain (Medicine), Associate Professor Rahul Agarwal (Microbiology) and Associate Professor Aashima Vijay (Obstetrics & Gynecology).
Medical documentation shows that the first patient suffered a severe postpartum hemorrhage after delivery. She received balloon tamponade, drugs and a blood transfusion, but her vitals did not stabilize, leading to her referral to a larger centre where she died on 17 September 2026.
The second patient, admitted on 16 September, delivered a 2.28‑kg baby at around 12:12 pm. By 3:40 pm she experienced heavy vaginal bleeding and respiratory difficulty. Immediate management with balloon tamponade and transfusion was insufficient, and she was transferred to a tertiary centre before succumbing on the same day.
Both women had been receiving regular antenatal care at the Silor sub‑health centre. The committee has been instructed to complete its investigation and forward a comprehensive report within two days.
