Fitness and Hygiene Drive Held in Delhi Under Freedom Run
New Delhi, October 31: Under the Fit India Freedom Run 7.0 campaign, the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, joined hands with the Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI) to hold a plog run at Nehru Park, Chanakyapuri. The programme took place on October 31 and combined physical fitness with cleanliness.
A 1500-metre plog run was led by Awadhesh Kumar Chaudhary, Senior Economic Advisor, Department of Pharmaceuticals. Officers from the Department of Pharmaceuticals, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) and PMBI were among the participants.
Plogging, a concept that merges jogging with the collection of litter, was used to draw attention to two goals: making physical activity a regular part of everyday life and keeping the environment clean. The participants stressed that fitness and cleanliness efforts gain strength when they are undertaken collectively, contributing to a healthier society and a cleaner environment.
The Fit India Freedom Run was introduced in 2020 as part of the Fit India Movement. It seeks to encourage people to treat physical activity as an integral component of their daily routine. Its philosophy of running anywhere and at any time has supported large-scale participation and a fitness culture across the nation.
The event also coincided with National Unity Day, marking the 151st birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, recognised as the architect of India's political integration. Participants administered the National Unity pledge and reaffirmed their commitment to the country's unity, integrity and security.
With this initiative, the Department of Pharmaceuticals once again pledged to encourage its officials and employees to adopt healthy habits, act responsibly toward the environment, and uphold cleanliness, discipline and national unity.
The programme strongly conveyed that a healthy individual, a clean environment and a nation that works together are vital for building a healthy and strong India.
