Emergency Response at Bihar School After Students Collapse in Heat

PATNA, July 4 – A sudden health emergency struck a government girls’ middle school in Nirmali, Bihar, when four students fell ill during the post‑assembly period on Saturday. The affected girls experienced vertigo, fatigue and anxiety, raising alarm among faculty and peers.

Headmaster Badri Narayan Verma described the assembly as normal before the incident. Immediate first‑aid measures were taken, with teachers moving the girls to a well‑ventilated area, supplying fluids and allowing them to rest.

One student’s condition was deemed serious, leading to her evacuation to a nearby nursing home for further medical attention. The other three recovered after receiving primary care and hydration.

Medical personnel reported that the hospitalized student is responding well to treatment and her condition has stabilized. Authorities suspect that the region’s extreme temperature and humidity played a role, but a thorough investigation is required to pinpoint the exact cause.

The school administration has now mandated heightened health surveillance, ensured the provision of safe drinking water, and introduced additional precautionary steps to protect students during the ongoing heatwave.
