Dry‑Day Initiative and Community Alerts Reach Over 7,200 Residents
As part of the anti‑mosquito drive, AMC launched a “Dry Day” campaign urging households to empty and clean all water‑holding containers once a week. The initiative aims to eliminate stagnant water sources that serve as breeding grounds for mosquito larvae.
Information, Education and Communication (IEC) activities were carried out in 314 residential colonies, directly engaging 7,213 citizens. The most intensive outreach occurred in the East Zone (69 activities), followed by West Zone (57) and South Zone (49). Over 7,213 health‑related pamphlets were distributed, and the malaria department set up 112 larval demonstration camps in public spaces.
Ward‑level officials organized awareness sessions across all 48 wards, stressing the importance of using mosquito nets while sleeping, wearing full‑sleeve clothing outdoors, and applying repellents or natural deterrents. Residents were also reminded to seek immediate medical attention for fever and to complete any prescribed treatment regimen, particularly when malaria is suspected.
AMC appealed to the public to utilize municipal services for pest control and to report any unchecked water accumulation promptly, reinforcing a community‑wide partnership against vector‑borne diseases.
