Dream Program Opens Ballongre-Gambegre Rehab Center in Meghalaya

The Ballongre‑Gambegre centre forms a new node in the DREAM initiative’s statewide rollout. It provides detoxification, psychiatric care, vocational training and family counseling under one roof.

Officials said the centre will serve not only the local population of West Garo Hills but also patients referred from other districts. Partnerships with NGOs and local community groups are expected to facilitate post‑treatment support and relapse prevention.

The inauguration marks a milestone in Meghalaya’s effort to build a comprehensive, evidence‑based drug‑rehabilitation system that can be replicated in other high‑need regions.
