The multinational cohort analysis revealed a direct correlation between the amount of alcohol consumed each day and systolic blood‑pressure levels. As daily intake rose, systolic readings climbed proportionally. In addition, men who drank larger quantities displayed a noticeable rise in diastolic pressure, the pressure measured between heartbeats. Women did not show a consistent diastolic response. Lead author Professor Marco Vinceti emphasized that even low‑level drinking produced adverse blood‑pressure changes when compared with abstainers, suggesting no cardiovascular benefit from modest alcohol use.
