Authorities seize unlicensed beauty products and raw materials in Gujarat
The Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) intensified its enforcement drive after uncovering an unlicensed operation producing a wide array of cosmetic goods in Ahmedabad. The surprise raid on August 25 resulted in the seizure of more than ₹2.68 lakh worth of finished products and raw inputs.
Seized items ranged from fairness creams, eye‑brightening formulations, shampoos, hair oils, body washes, facial cleansers, exfoliating scrubs, solid perfumes to glycerine‑based soaps. All associated packaging, labels and bulk raw chemicals were also confiscated.
Records indicated that the primary raw material source was Ravi Marketing, a supplier situated in the Odhav district. Laboratory testing of ten collected samples is underway to determine any health hazards. The FDCA reiterated its zero‑tolerance stance towards illicit cosmetic manufacturing that threatens public health.
