Ashok Gehlot Blames Health System Lapses After Surge in Post‑C‑Section Deaths

Former Rajasthan chief minister Ashok Gehlot expressed deep sorrow for the families of the mothers who died after cesarean sections in Bhilwara and Banswara. He described the incidents as "distressing and highly concerning," accusing the state government of gross negligence. Gehlot highlighted that despite warnings of infection in the operation theatre, cesarean surgeries continued, and only five surgical sets were being used to perform 30‑40 operations each day. He questioned whether the BJP administration had abandoned the state's health infrastructure to "divine providence." Gehlot appealed directly to Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda, demanding an urgent central mission to assess hospitals across Rajasthan and to prevent further maternal fatalities.
