The Andhra Pradesh Junior Doctors Association (APJUDA) claims that a 15 percent increase in stipend, overdue since January 1, is essential. The 2009 order from the Health, Medical and Family Welfare Department mandates a review of junior doctors' stipends every two years, typically around 15 percent. While the government has offered a 3 percent rise for postgraduate junior doctors and a 5 percent increase for house surgeons and interns, APJUDA insists on a uniform 15 percent hike. The association also seeks the implementation of NMC rules for hiring MSC and PhD holders in clinical faculty positions and opposes raising the retirement age from 62 to 65.
