Yogi Adityanath’s Financial Aid to Ailing Actor Anupam Shyam

In the summer of 2021, the entertainment world learned that veteran actor Anupam Shyam Oja was grappling with a severe kidney disease that required frequent dialysis sessions. The cost of treatment placed an enormous burden on his family, prompting a public appeal for help.

According to statements made by Anupam in an interview, the news of his condition reached the office of Uttar Pradesh’s Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath. Recognizing the actor’s contributions to Indian television and cinema, the chief minister authorized a direct transfer of ₹20 lakh to the hospital’s account to cover immediate medical expenses.

Anupam expressed gratitude, noting that the assistance allowed him to continue his treatment and even return briefly to the set of *Man Ki Awaaz – Pratigya 2*. He highlighted the personal rapport he shared with the chief minister, stating that the latter had long admired his work.

The aid, however, was only a temporary relief. Despite a short period of improvement, Anupam’s health deteriorated, and he passed away on August 8, 2021, at LifeLine Hospital in Mumbai. The gesture from the state’s leader sparked discussions about the responsibility of public officials towards artists facing health crises, while also underscoring the precarious financial realities that many actors confront.

Anupam Shyam’s passing was mourned across the television and film fraternity, with colleagues recalling his dedication, strong screen presence, and the indelible mark he left as Thakur Sajjan Singh.
