Yash Chopra's biography spans continents and eras. Born in pre‑partition Lahore to Lala Villayati Raj Chopra, a British Punjab administration accountant, he was the youngest of eight children. After the family's relocation to Ludhiana, he pursued a career in films by assisting his brother B.R. Chopra. In 1971 he founded Yash Raj Films (YRF), a production house that would later become a cornerstone of Indian cinema. Chopra's personal life was equally eventful; he married playback singer, writer, and producer Pamelah Singh in 1970, and the couple raised two sons—Aditya, now a director and head of YRF, and Uday, an actor‑producer.
