Why Walking Beats Gym: Randeep Hooda’s Advice from the 167th Income Tax Day
Mumbai – On the occasion of Income Tax Day 2026, the Income Tax Department held a Walkathon to celebrate its 167th year of operation. The event attracted celebrities, fitness enthusiasts and ordinary citizens who gathered to walk through the city’s streets.
Actor Randeep Hooda, one of the event’s main speakers, shared personal insights on why walking tops more demanding workouts. He recounted his years of gym sessions and sport practices but concluded that walking offers a low‑impact, sustainable way to stay fit.
Hooda stressed that a routine of thirty to forty‑five minutes of brisk walking each day can reduce body fat, improve lipid profiles and protect the heart. He also suggested monitoring heart rate during the walk to keep exertion within a safe range, thereby turning a simple stroll into an effective cardio session.
The actor reminded the audience that the 167th Income Tax Day marks the origin of India’s tax system in 1860. By coupling health education with financial literacy, the department hopes to inspire citizens to adopt healthier habits while staying informed about tax obligations.
