Vithya Ramraj Breaks 42-Year Record as Rajinikanth Honors Her Triumphs

Chennai – Rajinikanth met with Vithya Ramraj, the Indian hurdler who shattered a four‑decade‑old national record at the Asian Games. The superstar praised her perseverance and the three medals she collected: gold and silver in the 4 × 400 m relay and bronze in the 400 m hurdles.

The bronze run saw Vithya finish in 54.75 seconds, improving upon PT Usha’s 55.42‑second mark set at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. The achievement ended a 42‑year streak and placed Vithya among India’s elite athletes.

Accompanying the meeting were Vithya’s trainer Nehal Singh and M. Shenbagamurthi, who both highlighted the athlete’s disciplined preparation. Rajinikanth reiterated his confidence that Vithya will inspire future generations of Indian sportspersons.

India’s relay team, featuring Vithya, Kiran Pal, M.R. Puvarma and Prachi, posted a winning time of 3:29.81, securing the gold medal ahead of Bahrain and China.
