Vijay Setuprasad Returns in Retro Bhatta Film, Trailer Drops

A fresh teaser for “Bhatta” has been released, confirming the film’s period‑setting in the 1980s. Balaji Tharanitharan’s new Tamil venture features Vijay Setuprasad as the eponymous anti‑hero, with Lijomol Jose as the leading lady. The teaser’s opening moments portray Bhatta’s family gathering, each expressing a mix of fear and anticipation for his return. The daughter admits she is scared, while the brother promises that Bhatta will indeed come back. A child’s line underscores Bhatta’s fearsome reputation – everyone is afraid of him, yet he fears no one. Subsequent scenes illustrate a city on edge, police questioning citizens about a looming crime. Bhatta’s rough demeanor is highlighted through repeated violent encounters. A striking vignette shows him rejecting his wife’s food, spitting it out, and later responding to her search for him with a dismissive, “You don’t have to look for me; I’ll come on my own.” The film is a joint venture by A For Apple Studios and Cine1 Studios, with music composed by rising talent Sai Abhyankar. The worldwide theatrical launch is set for 1 October.
