Vijay Deverakonda Says He Feels Lucky, Backs Rashmika
Actress Rashmika Mandanna and actor Vijay Deverakonda have both responded to the criticism that has followed their relationship. Their recent appearance on the ninth season of 'Koffee with Karan' led to plenty of online commentary, with many people discussing their relationship on social media.
Rashmika has now addressed the backlash publicly. She described the reactions as more of an angry mob looking for an outlet than a healthy range of opinions.
Vijay responded as well, sharing a post in support of his wife and hitting back at those who had criticized them.
Rashmika used Instagram to clear up the talk about Vijay proposing to her over a full year. She said the actual point had been missed in the discussion. 'It may not have fit your viewpoint. Some of you may simply not want to look at it,' she wrote. Neither of them, she noted, had been searching for a dramatic proposal. The discussion was about Vijay's wish that they both give each other time and room to understand one another. 'We did that, and we chose each other.'
Rashmika also spoke warmly about Vijay's presence in her life. 'When my bone breaks, you are not there. He is. When I have pain in my stomach every month, you are not there. He is. When I need to rush to the hospital, you are not there. He is. When I wake up in the night from restlessness, you are not there. He is.'
She also made it clear that she would not stay silent if her family was discussed unfairly. 'You can say anything bad about me, and I can bear it. But speaking about my family without knowing them? That is not feminism. It is bullying disguised as feminism.'
Rashmika then offered her definition of feminism. 'It does not mean putting others down or proving that you are better, regardless of gender. For me, it means the freedom to choose my life and to take responsibility for it. I owned my life, and in return I have been given a great deal of love.'
Vijay Deverakonda followed with his own statement on social media. He called Rashmika his best friend, his wife, and one of the most beautiful parts of his life, adding that he had chosen her perfectly. He assured those who were worried about them that both of them were very happy. 'I consider myself fortunate. If it is me and her against the entire world, so be it. Sending lots of love to everyone who celebrates love.'
Vijay then directly responded to those who had criticized the relationship. He wrote that, without any intention of being kind or respectful, everyone else could go to hell.
