Arijit Singh’s voice carries the soul of “Kaun Tujhe Yun Pyaar Karega,” yet the track’s journey began in a completely different shape. According to lyricist Manoj Muntashir, the song was initially crafted for a male lead, with a completely different emotional texture.

The lyricist explained that the original version was meant to portray a man’s longing, but the film’s protagonist, cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni, is portrayed as calm and introspective. When director Neeraj Pandey reviewed the footage, he felt that the male‑sung version clashed with the real‑life persona of Dhoni, who rarely vocalizes his affection.

After extensive deliberations, the creative team decided to flip the narrative. The song would now be sung from the woman’s side, turning the melody into a heartfelt declaration addressed to Dhoni’s character. Arijit Singh’s recording remained part of the process, but the final cut featured a female vocalist, a choice that ultimately amplified the song’s emotional resonance.

Muntashir also shared a personal anecdote that sparked the opening line. His young son once innocently claimed his mother loved him more than anyone else. Inspired by that moment, Muntashir jotted down the phrase “Kaun Tujhe Yun Pyaar Karega” on his phone, a seed that grew into a chart‑topping anthem.
