Acting on TV Demands Speed and Skill, Explains Niharika Chouksey

Veteran TV actress Niharika Chouksey opened up about the relentless rhythm of daily soaps during an interview on July 24. She described television as a rigorous training institute where actors learn to deliver their best performance within tight deadlines.

“Even if a shoot demands fourteen hours, I enjoy the hustle,” Chouksey said. “Television forces you to act in front of the camera, remember lengthy dialogues and refine your craft with each episode. There is no room for complacency.”

She contrasted television with digital streaming series, noting that OTT projects typically allocate ample time for script analysis and workshops. “In TV, once the script is handed over, we must internalise, rehearse and shoot almost instantly. That pace is unmatched and cultivates agility and resilience among actors.”

Chouksey also highlighted an encouraging trend: stronger, more nuanced roles for women are now emerging across both small and big screens. “The shift reflects changing viewer preferences. Films are now casting women in pivotal, impactful parts, and television continues to champion female narratives.”

On the topic of reality television, the actress said she is currently focused on consolidating her fan base. “I will join reality shows when I feel prepared to compete and aim for victory,” she stated. She expressed a particular interest in dance programmes such as “Zhalak Dikhla Jaa” and indicated a desire to appear on “Khatron Ke Khiladi” after she conquers her own fears.
