Tribute: Anjan Srivastava Remembers Muqtash Khan’s Warm Bond
A gathering of Hindi cinema’s stalwarts took place in Mumbai on October 1 to honor the memory of Muqtash Khan, who passed away on September 24. Among the speakers, Anjan Srivastava delivered a moving tribute that highlighted the personal closeness they shared.
“The years we spent together on set turned into years of friendship. He was like a brother to my family, and my wife came specifically to offer her respects. We celebrated festivals, shared meals, and often spent leisure time together. Losing him feels like losing a part of our own household,” Srivastava said with a trembling voice.
Their on‑screen partnership featured in *Sazay‑e‑Maut* (1981), *Chamatkar* (1992), *Jazbaat* (1994), *Akele Hum Akele Tum* (1995) and *Ek Aur Visphot* (2002). The duo also appeared side‑by‑side in the beloved TV series *Wagley Ki Duniya*; Srivastava as the charismatic Shrinivas Wagley and Khan as the ever‑supportive Manohar.
Srivastava’s extensive filmography includes *Golmaal*, *Salaam Bombay!*, *Mississippi Masala*, *Khuda Haafiz*, *Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na*, *Pukar*, *Chak De! India* and *Yuvraj*. Khan, remembered for his versatile roles, left an indelible mark with movies like *Aashiqui*, *Hum Hai Rahi Pyaar Ke*, *Hera Pheri*, *Jodi No. 1*, *Mujhse Shaadi Karogi*, *Gadar: Ek Prem Katha* and *Welcome*.
