Taylor Swift Honors Hometown Nashville at Songwriters Hall of Fame
Los Angeles, October 27: Pop superstar Taylor Swift has spoken highly of Nashville, the city she calls home, saying it hosts a music community that stands alone.
Swift, 36, moved to Nashville, Tennessee, during her childhood in pursuit of a goal she had set early: becoming a country star.
Her comments came after she was honoured with induction into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame on Monday.
During her acceptance speech, she remarked, “I don't think you can become fully proficient at any art form without repeating it constantly. The incredible songwriters in this city are living proof of that.”
Swift, a multiple award winner and one of the best-selling music acts ever, also said, “Nothing compares to this music community. I can say that with confidence, because I've experienced the others.”
She credited the Nashville community with teaching her important life skills as well. “I learned to be flexible, whether a songwriter shows up hungover or wants to dwell on their divorce for ages before we write anything,” she shared.
Before this, Swift had talked about being inspired by Faith Hill and Shania Twain when she decided to relocate to Nashville. She began her professional music journey in 2006 with her debut album, which carried her name.
Later, she embraced mainstream pop with albums including 1989, Reputation and Lover. Her discography also features Folklore, Evermore, Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department.
Swift has earned 14 Grammy Awards. Her four wins for Album of the Year, for Fearless, 1989, Folklore and Midnights, are the most of any artist.
Hits such as Love Story, Shake It Off, Blank Space, Anti-Hero and Cruel Summer are among her popular songs. Her Eras Tour ended in December 2024 after 149 concerts across several countries.
