Subhash Ghai taps Kabir’s teachings to ease modern stress
Subhash Ghai, the acclaimed Indian filmmaker, posted an Instagram note on 31 July that championed Saint Kabir’s timeless advice as a remedy for today’s tension‑filled lives. He argued that Kabir’s couplets hold the key to preserving mental tranquility amid relentless pressures.
The post displayed Kabir’s image alongside a caption urging readers to immerse themselves in the saint’s verses whenever they feel stressed. Ghai reminded followers of Kabir’s eclectic upbringing: born near Varanasi, raised in a Muslim weaver family, and later becoming a disciple of the Hindu ascetic Ramanand, which infused his poetry with cross‑religious insights.
Audience reactions were overwhelmingly positive, with many expressing how Kabir’s couplets have helped them navigate stressful periods. Ghai’s note also recapped his own career highlights – early acting roles in "Umang" and "Ghumrah", a shift to direction, the release of his last feature "Kaanchi: The Unbreakable" in April 2014, and a short documentary titled "Gandhi – A Perspective" in 2020. Presently, he dedicates his efforts to his acting institute, continuing to spread the message that spiritual literature can foster inner peace.
