How ‘Student of the Year’ Launched Three Bollywood Stars

The 2012 release served as a launchpad for three future Bollywood staples: Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. Under the joint direction of Karan Johar and Punit Malhotra, the movie showcased the newcomers’ charisma and solidified their place in the industry.

Supporting actors such as Rishi Kapoor, Ronit Roy, Ram Kapoor, Farida Jalal, Sana Saeed and Kayoz Irani added depth to the narrative, while the soundtrack, composed by the duo Vishal–Shekhar, became a chart‑buster. Even after fourteen years, the film’s musical moments are regularly featured in playlists and social‑media tributes.
