Sonu Nigam Credits Haryanvi Roots for ‘Chunni’ Success
During an August 11 interview in Mumbai, celebrated vocalist Sonu Nigam reflected on the launch of his Haryanvi single “Chunni.” The artist attributed the song’s resonance to the cultural foundation laid in Haryana, a place he describes as a “special corner of his heart.”
He recounted that his birth in Faridabad was no accident; his sister shared the same hometown and his father’s early years also unfolded there. This shared lineage made Haryana a cornerstone of his identity.
The creation of “Chunni” was a collaborative effort. Nigam praised lyricist Ameen Barodi for his deep understanding of music and his ability to translate regional nuances into a contemporary romantic anthem. The track, released on August 7, 2026, combines heartfelt lyrics with an energetic rhythm.
Renuka Panwar’s vocal contribution adds authenticity, and the accompanying music video features Charmee Javeri, further anchoring the project in Haryanvi culture. Nigam’s statement underscores how his upbringing continues to inspire his artistic choices.
