Shweta Tiwari used Instagram Stories on August 21 to spotlight a wave of misogynistic messages circulating online. She disclosed that several senders identified themselves as supporters of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, prompting her to pose a direct question to the politician.

The actress stressed that harassment of women is no longer an isolated incident; it has become a pervasive habit across social media, affecting women of all ages, professions, and social strata. She highlighted that the culprits are not merely uneducated or fringe elements but also educated men from respectable households.

Referencing her deep roots in Maharashtra, Tiwari noted that the state's cultural fabric traditionally upholds women’s honor and power. She expressed disappointment when individuals who brand themselves as "Marathi" resort to demeaning language, calling it a betrayal of those cultural values.

Tiwari concluded by demanding that Raj Thackeray publicly address whether he condones such behavior. She emphasized that speaking Marathi or claiming regional pride does not grant anyone the right to disrespect women.
