Singer Vinod Rathod Receives 'Kishore Honor' in Khandwa

Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, hosted a memorable “Kishore Night” on Tuesday evening to celebrate the birthday of the beloved playback singer Kishore Kumar.

The event bestowed the “Kishore Samman” upon veteran playback singer Vinod Rathod, presenting him with a Rs 1 lakh prize money and a copper plaque as tokens of appreciation for his musical contributions.

Rathod shared that arriving in Kishore’s hometown evoked a profound sense of belonging, comparing it to the relief of a traveler who finally reaches his own house after a long trek.

He praised Kishore’s enduring influence, stating that the saintly presence of Kishore still blesses the people, and voiced a wish to be born again in Khandwa, describing the place as a sanctuary for true feelings.

According to Rathod, the honor received in Khandwa holds special significance, allowing artists to render Kishore’s compositions with genuine devotion, as the local community regards Kishore’s family with the same affection as their own.

Addressing inquiries about the state of Kishore’s original residence, Rathod remarked that even if the building appears as a ruin, it retains its sanctity, much like remote Shiva temples that are revered despite their isolation.

On the topic of conferring the Bharat Ratna on Kishore Kumar, Rathod argued that the singer’s global fan base merits an accolade that reflects his universal appeal, suggesting that the Bharat Ratna would be a modest tribute for such an iconic figure.
