‘Sigma’ Launches Shiv Pandit’s Exciting Return to Tamil Films
Chennai, Oct 3 – Actor Shiv Pandit has marked his comeback to Tamil cinema with the action‑adventure heist film ‘Sigma’, directed by Jason Sanjay. Describing the project as the start of an exhilarating new chapter, Pandit says the movie offers him a chance to explore a character with multiple grey dimensions.
In ‘Sigma’ he assumes the role of Vincent, a gambling‑club proprietor whose ambitions lead him into a web of illegal activities, mainly through his associate Ezekiel. The role diverges sharply from his previous work, giving him a platform to showcase a darker, more nuanced performance.
Pandit’s bond with Tamil audiences began with the film ‘Leelai’. Though the movie missed a wide theatrical release, it later achieved a dedicated following on streaming platforms, with viewers still celebrating its music and background score. That lingering affection makes his return through a major supporting part especially meaningful.
The actor recounts his artistic journey, starting with theatre at age nine, followed by intensive drama workshops and stage productions. A stint as a radio jockey for two to three years taught him voice modulation, facial expression, and effective communication—skills he believes enhance his on‑screen work.
His breakthrough in mainstream cinema arrived with Bijoy Nambiar’s ‘Shaitan’, backed by Anurag Kashyap, which earned him a Filmfare nomination for Best Male Debut. Since then he has built a varied portfolio across films and advertisements.
Speaking on why director Sanjay approached him, Pandit explained that Sanjay observed the online buzz surrounding his earlier Tamil performances, especially ‘Leelai’, and felt casting him as Vincent would add depth to the heist narrative. He finds the character’s blend of ambition, moral ambiguity, and entrepreneurial spirit compelling.
Pandit praised Sanjay’s dedication, noting the director’s professionalism and trust in his ability to carry such a layered role. He also highlighted the collaborative spirit of co‑star Sandeep Kisan and the entire crew, describing the set as a familial unit.
“Being part of ‘Sigma’ fills me with pride and excitement,” Pandit said, adding that the film’s fast‑paced plot and adventurous tone promise an engaging experience for the audience.
