How Mother Sharon Prabhakar Guided Shahzan Padmsee’s Musical Journey
Shahzan Padmsee attributes much of her recent musical breakthrough to her mother, Sharon Prabhakar, a trailblazer among India’s first pop stars. In a candid conversation, Padmsee explained that while she had always been passionate about singing, the surge of film offers after her role in “Houseful 2” pushed her musical dreams aside.
“The acting career started suddenly, and I loved every moment on set,” she said. “But after several projects, I realized I needed to nurture the other side of my creativity.”
Guided by Prabhakar, Padmsee embarked on an intensive practice regime, spending countless hours rehearsing alongside her mother. She highlighted that her mother’s mentorship removed the necessity for formal vocal classes, allowing her to internalize techniques in a familiar environment.
According to Padmsee, the discipline of daily practice not only improved her vocal abilities but also deepened her appreciation for the craft. “If you want to take this profession seriously, you must invest time in honing your talent,” she asserted.
Her debut song, “Raat Kaalia,” emerged from this collaborative effort, reflecting both personal growth and the supportive bond between mother and daughter.
