Selena Jetley Reflects on Family Loss and Love on Arthur’s Birthday
Selena Jetley, the Indian television star, used her son Arthur’s ninth birthday to share a moving reflection on Instagram. While celebrating the day, she opened up about the grief she still carries after the loss of her other son, Shamsher, who died shortly after birth in 2017.
The actress is mother to three boys – twins Winston and Viraj, and the younger Arthur. Shamsher was Arthur’s twin brother, and his untimely death left a permanent scar on the family.
In her post, Selena wrote, “Happy birthday, my precious Arthur. Mommy’s love for you is endless. I wish I could hug you tightly and prepare your favourite pani puri today. These pictures are shared to honor the love that brought you into this world.”
She recounted how, from the moment the three boys were born, she devoted herself wholly to their welfare. “When you were a baby, being apart from you was unbearable. I stayed by my mother‑in‑law’s side during her final battle with cancer, never leaving you. My heart has always been with you.”
Selena described a memory of trying to hold back tears at her grandfather’s funeral while carrying both Arthur and Shamsher in her womb, vowing to protect them both. She reminisced about simple moments – Arthur sleeping next to her, clutching her hair, memories that live forever in her mind.
She underscored that nurturing her children remains the most valuable part of her life. Selena mentioned that she writes daily to Arthur’s father asking for more time with the kids, yet receives no reply. She misses hearing their voices and learning how their day unfolded.
The actress reaffirmed that her children are her greatest happiness, surpassing any name or accolade. She stressed that she never wanted distance and that her sons should never feel compelled to choose between mother or father – they deserve unconditional love from both.
Ending on a spiritual note, Selena prayed that Arthur would continue to visit Shamsher’s grave, as they always did, keeping his brother’s protective spirit alive. “Happy birthday, my dear Arthur. Mommy loves you, Winston and Viraj more than the moon and beyond,” she concluded.
