Security Tightened as Amitabh Bachchan Meets Fans Outside Home
Under tight security, Amitabh Bachchan greeted fans outside his Mumbai home, Jalsa, on Sunday. The actor appeared behind a transparent bulletproof shell, a noticeable change from his usual public greetings.
In a video, Bachchan can be seen standing on a high platform outside his residence, shielded by the transparent barrier as he waved to the gathered crowd. His son Abhishek Bachchan was present with him.
An additional number of security personnel were deployed around the veteran actor. The increased security measures come after reports of a bomb threat email.
According to the reports, the Mumbai Police received information about a threatening email on October 23. The message was reportedly directed to a school in the BKC area of Bandra-Kurla Complex. An investigation was launched after the police were alerted.
The email also named singer and actor Diljit Dosanjh. Although the threat was not made directly against him, the mention raised concerns about his safety as well.
The email referred to Bachchan's Jalsa residence and claimed attacks were planned for October 31 and November 27. It also linked a potential bomb attack at Mahalaxmi Racecourse in Mumbai on November 27 with Dosanjh's name. Slogans supporting Khalistan were also written in the message. The threats were reportedly sent by a group calling itself the Khalistan National Army.
Earlier, Bachchan shared an update about his health on social media, saying he needed more time to recover. Doctors have recommended a break from his routine online activity, and he will remain away from social media for a while.
He posted on his Tumblr blog, 'Need more rest... adapting myself accordingly... thinking and amazed at how unique the human body is.'
On the professional front, Bachchan is currently hosting the quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati.
