Sai Pallavi Confirmed as Cop in Dhanush-Mammootty's Om
Actress Sai Pallavi's character in the highly anticipated film 'Om' has been revealed, bringing clarity to one of the most discussed aspects of the project. The film, directed by Rajkumar Periasamy, is an action thriller that has been building anticipation for months.
The makers have confirmed that Sai Pallavi will play a police officer. Her first look is scheduled for release on Monday evening, giving fans a closer look at her role.
The character reveal came after the film's production company, Wonderbar Films, asked on X when audiences could expect to see her. Director Rajkumar Periasamy responded by saying the first look would arrive today, October 26, at 6 pm, and that she would portray Nithya Reddy.
The cast also includes Bollywood star Naseeruddin Shah. Dhanush and Malayalam superstar Mammootty headline the film, marking their first collaboration. The title is followed by the tagline 'Chapter 1', which signals that a sequel could be in the works.
The story is rooted in the lives of people who earn a living by cutting red sandalwood. Dhanush plays a woodcutter in the film. The earlier title teaser showed police officers catching illegal red sandalwood cutters, with Dhanush seen arriving to save workers held hostage at gunpoint.
The film will now release in theatres on November 20. Originally scheduled for October 16, the release was postponed by Dhanush, who said the decision was made out of respect for Rajinikanth's film 'Jailer 2', which opened on October 15. The team also ruled out a Diwali release, as Suriya's film had already been announced for that date.
