Born on July 13, 1939, in Bijnour, Uttar Pradesh, Prakash Mehra faced early hardships: loss of his mother, an absentee father, and upbringing by relatives. Determined to pursue film, he left home as a teenager with a meagre sum. After years of menial work, he entered the industry, eventually directing films like "Mela," "Samadhi," and "Aan‑Ban." His award‑winning career earned him lifetime achievement honors from the Indian Motion Picture Directors Association in 2006. Mehra passed away on May 17, 2009, but his films remain beloved classics.
