Rajpal Yadav Given Final Deadline to Deposit Funds, Court Urges Immediate Action
In a decisive order on Monday, the Supreme Court told Rajpal Yadav that he must deposit a specified amount by Tuesday, failing which the court may take stringent steps. The actor, who was convicted for issuing seven bounced cheques in 2013, has been in a prolonged legal battle that saw his conviction upheld by the Delhi High Court in July 2026.
The High Court had previously reduced his sentence to three months of simple imprisonment for each of the seven cases, but repeated assurances of payment were ignored. Consequently, the Supreme Court placed an interim stay on his surrender after demanding a Rs 5 crore deposit, later extending the deadline to October 5.
Now, the apex court has sharpened its stance, demanding a minimum of Rs 2 crore within two weeks and a concrete repayment plan for the remaining balance. Non‑compliance could trigger the revocation of the interim relief and potentially lead to the dismissal of his appeal.
