Psychological Thriller Gondhal Global Trailer Drops Online
Mumbai, October 27: The makers of the psychological thriller 'Gondhal' have released its global trailer on social media, revealing glimpses of a mysterious story. The film, written and directed by Santosh Dawkhar, is inspired by cultural practices from Maharashtra.
The trailer suggests a narrative in which desire, duty and devotion clash. These forces draw a newly married couple into a chain of disturbing incidents that test them at every turn.
'Gondhal' is set in Maharashtra and follows the newlyweds Suman and Anandrao. Their lives change as they juggle personal desires, family responsibilities and religious beliefs. A series of mysterious events then leaves them unsure about what is happening around them.
The trailer presents scenes from the couple's life and outlines the problems they face. The film is grounded in Maharashtra's cultural practices and also explores the tension between individual aspirations and social duties.
Speaking about the project, Dawkhar said that the global image of Indian cinema is frequently defined by stories of poverty and caste disputes. "Those truths matter, but they do not represent the full vision of our country," he said.
He described 'Gondhal' as a confluence of culture, people and traditions spanning several generations rather than a film alone. Dawkhar said he is happy to introduce the world to this tradition. He believes global festivals such as the Academy Awards help filmmakers show the truth of their roots across continents and let audiences experience India in its true form. He said he created the film to bring a powerful tradition to global screens using culturally credible storytelling and the language of world cinema.
The film is set to hit theatres worldwide on November 13, 2026, in seven languages: Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and English. The makers say it will be the first Marathi film released in theatres worldwide in seven languages. Screenings are also planned in India, the US, the UK, Europe, Australia, Dubai and Africa.
The cast includes Ishita Deshmukh, Kishor Kadam, Yogesh Sohani and Nishad Bhoir.
