Priyanka Chopra's Karva Chauth Henna Honors Nick Jonas
Mumbai, October 29: Actress Priyanka Chopra is observing Karva Chauth this year in the same spirit as always, even while far from home. She offered fans a look at her festive henna, which carries her husband Nick Jonas's name.
The actress posted the henna photo on her Instagram story with a heartfelt caption: “Named after my beloved... Happy Karva Chauth to everyone celebrating.” The message was shared warmly by followers who appreciated her festive spirit.
In a second story, she posted a close-up of the design and asked a playful question about a traditional tip for deeper color. “The question is, will the sugar syrup work?” she wrote.
The tip she mentioned involves applying a lemon and sugar solution, commonly called sugar syrup, over henna after it is applied. The aim is to keep the henna stuck to the skin for longer and help it develop a richer, darker shade.
Experts explain that henna darkens as the paste stays moist. When it dries, it cracks and flakes away. The sugar makes the paste sticky enough to remain in place, while the syrup keeps it from drying out. This matters because lawsone, the natural compound responsible for henna's color, releases its pigment only while the paste is damp.
Priyanka, who is married to American singer Nick Jonas, regularly keeps Indian traditions alive while living abroad. She also ensures that her daughter, Malti Marie, grows up connected to Indian customs and festivals.
Recently, the actress celebrated Dussehra with Durga Puja at her Los Angeles residence, including a havan and kanya pujan. Malti and Nick Jonas joined her for the puja.
