Prahaar Actress Vamika Gabbi Reveals Her Prosthetic Transformation

Mumbai, October 27: Actress Vamika Gabbi has spoken about the prosthetic transformation that helped her portray Jyoti Nikam in “Prahaar - The Untold Story of Ujjwal Nikam.” The character is the wife of Ujjwal Nikam, the well-known government prosecutor whose life inspires the film.

According to the actress, sitting in the makeup chair and gradually watching her appearance change made the role feel deeply authentic. She said the experience helped her connect with the character on a more personal level.

Describing her reaction after the prosthetics were applied, Vamika said she was momentarily lost in her own reflection. “I knew that it was me, but I was not able to recognise the person in the mirror,” she said. “It was a strange feeling, but I thoroughly enjoyed the entire process.”

She added that the transformation was so convincing that she often forgot how much she had changed. “Once I was in the chair and watched my face change slowly, the character started feeling more real. I would only realise how different I looked when someone showed me a photo from the set.”

Vamika said that playing Jyoti Nikam gave her a unique acting experience and an opportunity to explore an area of performance she had not tried earlier.

Jyoti’s character illustrates how Ujjwal Nikam, played by Rajkummar Rao, balanced his professional responsibilities with his private life. While he is engaged in some of the country’s most discussed cases, including the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, Jyoti’s role captures the family pressures, struggles and human dimension behind his work.

The actress also met the real Jyoti Nikam before filming, a meeting that helped her grasp the details of Jyoti’s journey and her contributions.
