Police Trace VPN and Tor Usage Behind Threatening Audio Against Bollywood Star

Mumbai police cyber specialists are tracking a series of anonymous threats aimed at Bollywood actor Amir Khan. The threats were delivered through an audio clip and a Facebook post that claimed the actor is fostering "love jihad" and attacking the country's cultural values.

Technical analysis revealed that the first IP address linked to the content originated from Sweden. Subsequent attempts to locate the sender showed the use of a VPN service combined with the Tor network, causing the IP to change repeatedly and making attribution difficult.

The incident follows Khan's high‑profile third marriage to Gauri Spratt, conducted on July 5 under the Special Marriage Act. The marriage has provoked backlash from certain community leaders and political representatives, who accuse the actor of promoting religious conversions under the guise of love.

Khan has publicly denied any involvement in such activities. He clarified that his marriages are civil arrangements, that his current wife is a Christian, and that his family respects all religions. His first marriage to Reena Dutta (1986‑2002) and second to director Kiran Rao (2005‑2021) produced three children: Junayd, Ira and Azaad.
