Pocket Novel Officially Adds G.V. Prakash as Music Director
Chennai, October 30: The makers of Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming film Pocket Novel officially confirmed on Friday that G.V. Prakash Kumar has been named the film’s music director. The three-time National Award-winning composer’s association was made public through the production house TDKF’s social media accounts.
The announcement stated that it was official that G.V. Prakash had joined Pocket Novel. The film had earlier been announced with Isaignani Ilaiyaraaja as its composer.
The development followed weeks of speculation. Reports in early October claimed that Ilaiyaraaja had exited the project, and the buzz intensified after the makers declared on October 9 that filming was finished, without including his name in the list of technicians.
Despite media reports that Prakash had replaced Ilaiyaraaja, the makers had not confirmed the change until Friday.
According to the team, shooting had been completed 20 days before the latest update. The makers shared the wrap-up news through a video showcasing behind-the-scenes clips recorded on different shooting days.
Lead actress Malavika Mohanan had earlier this month shared a warm message of gratitude for the entire team on Instagram, calling the film a small world of its own and expressing her good fortune at being part of it.
Reflecting on the experience, she said that the people one works with on a film ultimately matter more than the filmmaking process. She described months of shared meals, long conversations and shared emotions as turning colleagues into a second family.
She praised Vijay Sethupathi for his attentiveness and generosity as a co-actor. Malavika said his support had created a relaxed atmosphere in which she could work freely, regardless of how long or difficult the process became.
Malavika noted that she had worked with Sethupathi in Petta and Master but never shared the screen with him, which made their pairing in Pocket Novel especially meaningful.
She also described director Thyagarajan Kumararaja as an unusual and inspiring individual, noting that working with him had been a lifetime experience. She added that she appreciated his balance of strength and kindness.
She also thanked Ezhilmathi SD for her caring support, and said the two shared a similar taste in clothes, textiles and beautiful objects.
Her message concluded with a note that Pocket Novel meant far more to her than a film, and an expectation that audiences would see it in theatres soon.
