From Parliament to Playback: Hans Raj Hans Shares Comeback Story

Mumbai, July 4 – Former Member of Parliament and celebrated singer Hans Raj Hans has stepped back onto the musical stage with the release of his latest single “Ohadiyaan Khedaan”. In a candid interview, Hans recounted how personal encouragement from close friends nudged him toward the studio after more than a decade away.

The artist explained that his concentration shifted to politics after he left the entertainment field, treating public service as a higher calling. This shift created a twelve‑year hiatus in his singing catalog.

When Hans considered withdrawing completely from public life, Sanjeev Anand reminded him that listeners still cherished his vocal style. “There are people who still want to hear your songs,” Anand said, prompting Hans to revisit his musical roots.

The new track, produced under the Anand Records label, features lyrics written by Sanjeev Anand and music composed by Amjad Ali. While the song is not strictly a spiritual anthem, its lyrical depth reflects Hans’s life experiences, offering a contemplative listening experience.

Renowned for classic numbers such as “Dil Tote‑Tote Ho Gaya”, “Dil Chori Sadda Ho Gaya”, “Nitt Khair Manga” and “Sili‑Sili Hawa”, Hans later pursued a political career. He has been part of the Shiromani Akali Dal, the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party, and held a seat in Parliament. In the 2009 general elections he contested the Jalandhar Lok Sabha constituency on an Akali Dal ticket, though he did not secure a victory.

With “Ohadiyaan Khedaan”, Hans aims to bridge his dual identities, using music as a platform to convey his evolving perspectives to a new generation of listeners.
