Son of a legend: Nidhi Dutta’s emotional tribute to JP Dutta on his 77th

On 3 October, JP Dutta celebrated his 77th birthday surrounded by family affection and industry admiration. Daughter Nidhi Dutta posted an Instagram collage that traced their relationship from childhood moments to present‑day celebrations.

Her heartfelt caption began, “Papa, heartfelt wishes on your 77th birthday. You are my greatest weakness and my greatest strength.” She continued, “To the world you are a legend, but to me you are my whole heart, my safe place, and my biggest blessing. Every part of who I am carries a piece of you. Saying ‘I love you’ still feels too small.”

The post attracted reactions from several Bollywood stars, including Neil Nitin Mukesh, who extended birthday wishes.

Actor Sunil Shetty, a frequent collaborator on Dutta’s war projects, shared a nostalgic set photograph from the making of “Border.” In his note, Shetty expressed, “Some relationships are so deep that words fail. Your imprint is on every special moment in my life. Happy birthday, JP Sir. I will always be grateful. With love and deepest respect.”

JP Dutta remains a cornerstone of Indian patriotic cinema, known for directing “Border,” “Refugee,” and “LOC Kargil,” films that defined the genre and featured Sunil Shetty in pivotal roles.
