New Film ‘Varanasi’ Shows Priyanka Chopra in Dual Looks Ahead of Release
On the occasion of her birthday, Priyanka Chopra received a special spotlight as director S.S. Rajamouli unveiled her first look for the upcoming movie “Varanasi.” The reveal presented two contrasting visual styles that hint at the complexity of her role as Mandakini.
The initial picture features Priyanka in a black, corset‑inspired costume, framed by a warm amber-lit setting. Her sharp gaze and intense expression emphasize the formidable side of Mandakini, echoing the director’s description of a character that can be both comforting and fiery.
A second photograph captures a lighter, more carefree aura. Dressed in a white crop top, black cargo trousers, and a beige jacket draped over her shoulders, Priyanka appears mid‑jump, arms outstretched, embodying an exuberant freedom.
Rajamouli’s accompanying note praised her smile for its soothing quality while noting the fierce heat of her anger when she chooses not to smile. Co‑actors Mahesh Babu and Pritviraj Sukumaran also posted the images on social media, spreading excitement across their fan bases.
“Varanasi” marks Priyanka’s return to the Indian film industry. Mahesh Babu is set to play a character named Rudr, and Pritviraj Sukumaran will assume the role of the antagonist Kumba. Though initially hinted at under the working title “Globtrott,” the film’s official name was disclosed at a grand unveiling at Hyderabad’s Ramco Film City on 13 November.
Producers expect a theatrical launch in April of the following year, positioning the film as a major contender in the upcoming Bollywood season.
