‘Narak’ Song Reimagined by Shahnaz Gill Connects with ‘Ishqnama’ Lead Characters
Shahnaz Gill, who will appear as Nasima in the Punjabi drama *Ishqnama*, has unveiled her own version of the track “Narak”. The film is based on a true cross‑border romance that occurred between 1981 and 1988, focusing on the challenges faced by a Pakistani girl and an Indian Sikh boy.
Rather than attempting a direct copy of the original B‑Prak and Jyotika rendition, Gill infused the song with her signature vocal nuances. In a recent conversation, she revealed that stepping into Nasima’s shoes helped her resonate with the deep sorrow and yearning embedded in the lyrics, which were originally written and composed by Jaani.
The song’s fresh interpretation is already gaining traction online, and the film is set to release on July 24. Through her unique rendition, Gill hopes to invite listeners to feel the same emotional pulse that drives the on‑screen relationship between Nasima and Nimmu.
