Mumbai Court Sets Bail Conditions for Rupa Dutta After 1.48 Lakh Theft

A Metropolitan Magistrate in Mumbai ordered that actress Rupa Dutta be released on a personal bail of Rs 50,000, while imposing strict conditions related to the 1.48 lakh theft case. The theft was reported by Dimpl Singhi, who said her bag was taken on July 12, 2026 as she walked from Babulnath Temple toward Kolaba. The bag held a gold bracelet studded with diamonds (approximately Rs 1.20 lakh), cash of Rs 10,000, Apple AirPods valued at Rs 15,000, a wallet and several personal papers. Surveillance footage examined by the police allegedly showed Dutta pursuing the victim, which formed the basis of her arrest. During the bail hearing, counsel Sunil Pandey argued that the actress was a scapegoat and emphasized lack of concrete evidence. The court granted bail but required Dutta to refrain from tampering with any evidence and barred her from leaving the country without the court’s explicit permission. The legal proceedings remain ongoing.
