Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan Heads to TIFF 2026

Mumbai, October 23: Actor Shweta Tripathi is currently promoting her film 'Mujhe Jaan Na Kaho Meri Jaan' at international film festivals and markets. The project, which began its international journey at the Berlin International Film Festival earlier this year, has now been screened in the lineup of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) 2026.

The film marks Tripathi's first feature as a producer, making its international run a significant moment for her.

Tripathi has said that becoming a producer has altered how she engages with a story. Her focus now extends beyond the filmmaking process to questions about distribution, audience and the discussions the film might inspire.

"Taking a film you believe in to an international platform is special in itself, especially when it is your first feature as a producer," she said. She added that the journey from Berlin to Toronto has been very meaningful, offering her an opportunity to present the film in a new light.

She further explained that thinking beyond production raises practical and creative questions. These include which people the film will reach, what conversations it can start, and what possibilities await it. She described the experience as a rewarding lesson and said she is curious to see the impact the journey will have on the film.

Tripathi noted that her work as a producer has given her a new understanding of storytelling. As an actor, she said, the focus is entirely on bringing a character and narrative to life. As a producer, one must also consider the film's life after completion, including who may connect with it and how to build pathways to its audience.

She emphasised that international film festivals and markets bring together people who can help turn these possibilities into reality. Presenting her first production on such platforms, she said, has been an important step in her journey.

The film is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Sanjay Nag and stars Tilottama Shome and Shweta Tripathi. It is a queer love story that aims to portray love and human relationships with honesty and detail.

Tripathi's association with production began in theatre. In 2010, she established her theatre company, Almighty. Its early productions included 'Cock', a queer drama by British playwright Mike Bartlett, a winner of the Olivier Award.
