Shekhar Kapoor’s spiritual sequel “Masoom: The Next Generation” is set to hit screens later this year, featuring a mixed ensemble of seasoned actors and fresh faces. Among the newcomers is Kaveri Kapoor, who will play Tia, a character central to the film’s contemplation of what constitutes a home.

In a recent social‑media update, Kapoor explained that Kaveri insisted on a screen test before committing to the role. The daughter, already active as a singer‑songwriter and a poet about to publish a book, did not want to be launched solely on her father’s reputation. She asked for a proper audition to validate her capabilities, a request that Kapoor honored.

The production is a collaboration between Shekhar Kapoor and AR Rahman, with Rahman also delivering the music. The film’s lineup includes Shabana Azmi, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Nitya Menon and Jugal Hansraj.
