Mahakal Jyotirlinga Highlights as Esha Kopparaj Explores Ujjain’s Sacred Site
Ujjain’s Mahakal Jyotirlinga attracted Bollywood actress Esha Kopparaj this week as she sought a spiritual pause from her film commitments. The star uploaded a series of Instagram stories that captured the temple’s intricate architecture, the thrumming chants of devotees, and the luminous aarti performed at sunrise. Her caption reflected on the calming effect of the visit, noting how the journey from Indore’s famous poha to Mahakal’s divine presence taught her gratitude.
The Mahakal shrine is distinguished by its south‑facing Shiva linga, a rarity among the twelve Jyotirlingas scattered across the subcontinent. Devotees consider the idol self‑appeared, never installed by human hands, and they regard it as the sovereign of Ujjain. The complex comprises three stacked levels: the subterranean floor enshrines Mahakal, the first story features Onkareshwar, and the top floor venerates Nagchandreshwar, each offering a unique facet of worship.
While recounting the pilgrimage, Esha highlighted that the atmosphere of the temple fostered inner calm and a renewed sense of purpose. She praised the simple pleasure of savoring Indore’s poha and the profound serenity of standing before Mahakal, describing the experience as a blend of culinary delight and divine reverence.
Beyond her devotional itinerary, the actress has recently ventured back into acting through a student‑led film titled “Rocketship,” produced by Whistling Woods International. In the movie, she embodies Aditi, a mother who encourages her daughter’s dreams, reflecting her own desire to inspire audiences both on and off the screen.
