Legal commentators have backed Ashok Pandit's remarks that the constitution, not individual sentiment, should drive legal actions. The notice served to Imran Khan, who was earlier taken into custody on October 10 for joining a protest demanding the resignation of the chief election commissioner, reflects the application of Sections 7 and 29 of the Immigration and Foreigners Act. Pandit contended that every citizen must respect constitutional limits while exercising freedom of expression.
He further noted that any attempt to manipulate serious national concerns for personal gain is unacceptable, and the firm response from authorities sends a clear message to those who flout the law on public highways.
