How Kirti Suresh prepares for contrasting roles in Hindi and South films
In a candid interview from Mumbai on November 8, actress Kirti Suresh detailed her preparation techniques for projects across Bollywood and the South Indian film circuit. With the upcoming release of Akka, she reflected on the differing creative processes that shape each industry.
According to Suresh, Hindi cinema’s workflow is meticulous. "The pre‑production phase is exhaustive – script reading sessions, character workshops, and extensive rehearsals are the norm. This structured environment lets us explore nuances before filming begins," she explained.
She contrasted this with the South’s more fluid approach. "There’s a certain spontaneity on South sets. Often, we first meet our fellow actors on location, and the energy is immediate. Still, for specialized characters we undergo focused training," she said, acknowledging the benefits of both styles.
The film Akka is helmed by director Dharmraj Shetty and produced by YRF Entertainment. The cast includes Radhaika Aapte, Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar, and Monica Panwar, creating a multi‑generational ensemble.
Suresh described her role as Bhavani, a determined woman whose sense of identity drives her actions. "Bhavani is ready to defend her legacy at any cost, yet the weight of her decisions adds depth to her persona," she elaborated.
She also touched upon the contrast between Bhavani and Rudra, another central figure, noting that the differing energies of the two characters bring a new dimension of intrigue to the plot. The partnership with Netflix promises a broad audience reach, a prospect that Suresh finds "extremely exciting" as the film gears up for its digital debut.
