Kerala Govt Urges Centre to Approve Pending Films for IDSFFK

The Kerala state cultural department has formally appealed to the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for immediate clearance of 31 documentaries and short films slated for the 18th International Documentary and Short Film Festival (IDSFFK).

According to Minister P.C. Vishwanath, the Kerala State Film Academy has already written to the centre requesting a decision. The ministry has neither granted the required certification nor issued a formal rejection, leaving the films in limbo without any stated reason for the delay.

Out of 347 submissions, the remaining 316 have already received clearance. The pending titles include high‑profile works such as "Parliament Street," "Sanitized Republic: Cast and Contracts," "Globe," "Memories of a Window," "Birds of War," "Put Your Soul on Your Hand and Walk," and "Our Land."

Eighteen of the blocked films are officially selected, nine belong to the International Non‑Fiction category, three are festival‑winner entries, and one is part of a Nepal package. The festival is scheduled for September 25‑30, and the state government hopes the centre will act swiftly to avoid disruption.
