Director Todd Phillips has officially confirmed the sequel to his hit psychological drama Joker. Phillips took to Instagram to share a picture of the script, which revealed the title: Joker: Folie á Deux. In the same post, he added a black-and-white photo of Joaquin Phoenix reading the script and smoking a cigarette.
Phoenix won an Oscar for his lead performance in the film and it was a winner at the box office. The new film will also be written by the original’s Phillips and Scott Silver.
Folie á Deux might be a temporary title, but it has already got the attention of everyone online. Though the date on Phillips’ script reads May 18, 2022, it is reported that the pic was shot a while ago.
Joker exists in a parallel timeline that is different from the DC Extended Universe movies. In director Matt Reeves’ Batman universe Joker will be played by Barry Keoghan.
