How ‘Jatt & Juliet’ grew into a Punjabi cinema classic, says director

Anurag Singh, the visionary behind "Jatt & Juliet," recently reflected on the film’s fourteen‑year journey. The director highlighted that during production, the team’s sole concentration was on crafting an engaging screenplay for the big screen.

He revealed that the overwhelming love the movie received over the past decade was something he could never foresee. "I remain grateful for the audience’s continued support," Singh wrote alongside his nostalgic photo collection.

The movie, which hit theaters in 2011, paired Diljit Dosanjh’s Fatteh Singh with Neeru Bajwa’s Pooja, delivering a mix of humor, romance, and memorable dialogues. Supporting actors such as Upasana Singh, Jaswinder Bhalla, and others contributed to its box‑office triumph.

The film’s legacy spurred the creation of "Jatt & Juliet 2" in 2013 and a third chapter in 2024, while a Bengali remake in 2014 titled "Bengali Babu English Mem" demonstrated the story’s adaptability across regions.
